In this eight-lesson course, learners build a multi-level Python adventure starring a hero named Zonan. Each lesson is framed as a mission in Zonan’s quest and introduces a focused programming concept followed by hands-on coding. Students implement animated characters, keyboard movement, gravity and jumping, collision detection, enemy behavior, collectibles and scoring, health meters, and basic visual effects. The curriculum also covers structuring code with helper functions, using lists and dictionaries, loops and conditionals, and simple arithmetic for game mechanics. Teaching combines live code-alongs, storytelling, and interactive challenges. Instructors guide students as they write, test, and debug game scenes in real time, with frequent feedback and opportunities to customize levels. By the final lesson learners combine the mechanics they’ve practiced to design and test an original level that uses animation, controls, collisions, scoring, and health systems. The course is designed for students in grades 5–6 (ages 11–13) and unfolds over eight guided sessions. Materials are minimal: a laptop with internet access and pen and paper for planning. The structure emphasizes building by doing, iterative debugging, and creative level design, so students gain both technical skills and experience designing interactive gameplay.

Eight mission-based lessons. Each class introduces one or two core Python game concepts, followed by a live code-along and a hands-on activity. Instructors provide real-time feedback, help with debugging, and time for students to customize or combine mechanics into their own level.
Build a playable multi-level adventure game in Python with animation and controls
Implement collision detection, enemy behavior, collectibles, and scoring systems
Use lists, dictionaries, loops, conditionals, and arithmetic in game logic
Create health meters and visual effects that respond to gameplay
Design, test, and debug original levels combining learned mechanics
