This ongoing Scratch club guides young coders through hands-on game and animation projects each week. Designed for ages 6-11 (Grades 1-4), the club introduces new coding concepts and game mechanics in short, focused projects so learners build confidence and creativity over time. An instructor leads each session, demonstrating steps, troubleshooting with students, and encouraging customization and collaboration. Upcoming weekly projects include: a simple Chase Game demonstrating sprites, backgrounds, and movement controls; a Video Sensing Bubble Popping project that uses Scratch’s sensing blocks to interact with real-world movement; a customizable Pong arcade game covering bouncing effects and player controls; a Clicker game exploring timers, scoring, and increasing difficulty; a Racing game with movement controls, speed boosts, and obstacles; a Maze Adventure focused on collision detection and logic puzzles; a Space Shooter using loops, variables, and event-driven behavior; and a Platformer that introduces jumping mechanics, gravity, animations, and basic game physics. Each week students are invited to personalize their projects, practice debugging, and share work with classmates. The club balances step-by-step instruction with creative freedom, helping beginners learn core programming ideas while making playable games. Ongoing participation lets students revisit and expand earlier projects as new concepts are introduced.
