This unit was exactly what we were looking for — it ties English, Algebra 2, and environmental science together in a thoughtful way. The lessons (four per week, 60 minutes each) were well paced for a high schooler and balanced reading comprehension and writing craft with math problem solving on functions and systems. I also liked that environmental topics such as evolution, conservation, biodiversity, and demographic change were included, and the writing assignments encouraged my child to think about these issues while practicing spelling and communication.

The curriculum is solid — thorough coverage of advanced Algebra 2 (quadratic solving, factoring, quadratic formula), expository and analytical writing, plus environmental science topics like solid waste and resource consumption. My 17-year-old appreciated the 60-minute lessons and the combination of spelling/grammar practice with math and science study. The only minor issue was the pace, which felt a bit fast at times for a student juggling other responsibilities; a touch more review time would have been ideal. Overall, still a very useful seven-week unit.

I'm impressed with how the unit integrates writing, Algebra 2 topics like quadratic solving and factoring, and environmental themes such as the carbon cycle and ecological footprint. The seven-week format with four lessons per week gave enough time to dive into concepts without dragging. My teen stayed engaged and enjoyed the mix of math problems and environmental concept study.

Overall a solid course that covers an impressive range of topics from ecosystem equilibrium and biodiversity to linear equations. My 15-year-old found some of the Algebra 2 material challenging at first, but the class problems helped reinforce concepts. I would have liked a bit more time spent on review during the 8-week unit.
