Class Experience

This advanced SketchUp course focuses on professional interior-design workflow: accurate 2D floor plans, extruding walls and openings, creating reusable components, sourcing assets and materials, and producing polished visual presentations or walkthroughs. Lessons combine technical demonstrations with guided build-along time and class design reviews.

Learning Outcomes

  • Create accurate 2D floor plans using precision tools

  • Convert 2D plans into 3D structures with Push/Pull and grouping

  • Create and modify Components for repeatable elements

  • Apply materials and textures and export final visualizations

Prerequisites

Materials needed:

Hardware: A computer with a dedicated mouse (with a scroll wheel) is highly recommended for 3D navigation.

Please do not use the iPad version of Sketchup as it will not be suitable for this course.

Also, very important: only use ONE device for class. There is no need for two screens as this does more to confuse the student as their eyes can't look at two screens at once. We utilize screensharing (necessary) and remote control (optional) a lot so that I can help students in real time, so they should be using Zoom and Sketchup on the same device.
