In this hands-on design course, learners become toy inventors using Tinkercad. Across eight guided sessions, each class focuses on a fresh project—balanced spinning tops, a mini racing car, an articulated dinosaur, a toy airplane, a themed tic-tac-toe set, a pocket maze, a mini bowling game, and a dice tower. Projects teach practical 3D modeling skills like precise alignment, symmetry, radial patterns, negative space, holes and clearances, and planning for fitted or movable-looking parts. The instructor demonstrates each build live, highlights measurement techniques and print-ready design choices, and checks progress at key stages. Students are encouraged to personalize themes, colors and features while considering how a toy will look, how it will be used and whether another child can understand and play with it. Peer and teacher feedback are used to iterate and explain design decisions. Designs remain digital so a 3D printer is optional. The course is suited to learners ages 8 to 11 (grades 4 to 6) who want to move beyond basic modeling and practice real-world design thinking with kid-friendly toy projects.

Paid once.
Each session includes a live instructor demonstration, step-by-step building time, and checkpoints for feedback. Students follow along in Tinkercad, personalize their models, and share work for peer and teacher review. 3D printing is optional; designs stay digital.
Design original toy and game objects from a clear project brief
Use precise alignment, symmetry, duplication, holes and measurements in 3D models
Create patterns, pathways, fitted parts and movable-looking joints
Evaluate models for usability, balance, scale and printability
Iterate and explain design choices using peer and teacher feedback
Basic computer skills and ability to use a mouse or trackpad. Access to a Tinkercad account is required. No prior 3D modeling experience needed.
