In this hands-on Discovery Session, students step into the role of a robotics engineer and design their own robot using Tinkercad’s 3D modeling tools. Designed for ages 8–13 (grades 4–6), this single interactive webinar introduces the essential parts of a robot—body, wheels, and sensors—and how those parts affect motion and stability. During the live session, learners will: explore what defines a robot; identify mechanical components; create a simple robot chassis in Tinkercad; adjust designs for balance and movement; and share their ideas with the class. The instructor demonstrates basic 3D modeling techniques, explains simple engineering decisions that influence how robots move, and gives an introductory overview of how basic coding can make a robot act. This workshop is structured for beginners and requires no prior robotics or 3D design experience. Students come away with a clearer sense of robot parts and engineering trade-offs, a first 3D model of a robot chassis, and confidence in iterating their designs. The session emphasizes creativity, problem solving, and practical design thinking in a supportive, interactive environment.
