This 12-class Grade 6 math course builds fluency with ratios, rates, percents, fraction and decimal operations, and factor reasoning. Instruction begins with ratio language and representations, moving to equivalent ratios, ratio tables, diagrams, and double number lines to make proportional relationships concrete. Students learn to compute unit rates and solve real-world rate problems using tables and equations. Percent work connects percentages to fractions and decimals, with practice finding a percent of a quantity and solving applied percent problems. Fraction work emphasizes dividing fractions using visual models, reciprocals, and standard methods. Separate lessons focus on fluently adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing multi-digit decimals with efficient strategies. Number-operation topics include finding greatest common factors and least common multiples, and using common factors with the distributive property to rewrite expressions. Throughout the course learners engage with guided examples, visual models, targeted practice problems, and real-world applications while explaining their reasoning. The final class provides a comprehensive review of the major concepts and offers additional practice to reinforce problem-solving strategies.
