Class Experience

This two-session course examines how World War II propaganda was created and used in America and abroad, covering common techniques, target audiences, and messaging illustrated with many historical images. Students apply what they learn by designing a propaganda poster, discuss how captions can change an image’s meaning, and share finished posters.

Prerequisites

Materials needed:

Day One: Students will need a piece of plain white paper (printer paper works fine!), pencils, and colored pencils or other art materials to draw and color their poster.

Day Two: Students will need a piece of paper to jot down notes and a pencil.
