Class Experience
Was it the right decision? In History Debate Club teens examine key moments in modern history and debate them using real evidence and primary sources.
They research positions, practise speaking and learn to respond respectfully to opposing views. Members take turns leading teams, building leadership as well as historical thinking.
How classes work
Each weekly session opens with a quick warm-up and a short new idea, then learners work on the session's challenge together while the teacher guides the group. Sessions end with time to share. New learners can join any week because each session stands on its own.
What we'll cover
Session theme 1: Debate Basics – Learn debate structure, roles and how to use evidence.
Session theme 2: World War II Decisions – Debate a major World War II decision using primary sources.
Session theme 3: Cold War – Debate a Cold War turning point.
Session theme 4: Modern Issues – Debate a modern history question with team captains leading.
