Course overview This 24-class semester course teaches students in grades 5–7 real Python fundamentals—variables, loops, functions, conditionals and lists—while using libraries such as pygame and OpenCV. Each lesson is project-focused so concepts connect directly to creations like an asteroid-style game, chatbots, emoji mood mappers and webcam apps that detect faces or posture. How we teach Classes mix short interactive warm-ups, a creative planning activity, guided live coding, and a final showcase so learners practice both technical skills and design thinking. Students build incrementally: small text programs, then games with graphics and sound, then AI chatbots and simple computer vision projects using the webcam. Instructors lead step-by-step examples and encourage debugging, customization and peer sharing. Representative projects Students will create text-based games and quizzes, an Asteroid Blaster game using pygame, AI chatbots with text-to-speech, a movie recommender and emoji mood mapper, plus computer vision apps that detect faces, apply fun filters, track posture and control simple games with head movement. Outcomes and pace By the end of the course students will have multiple finished projects, a working familiarity with common Python patterns, hands-on experience with two popular libraries (pygame and OpenCV), and practice presenting their work. Each class runs with a warm-up, design time, coding segment and a short showcase to celebrate progress.

Paid once.
Each class follows a consistent routine: a 5-minute warm-up, a 10-minute design activity, 25–30 minutes of guided live coding, and a 5-minute summary and showcase. Lessons build sequentially across 24 sessions: text programs, then interactive games with pygame, then AI chatbots, and finally computer vision projects using the webcam and OpenCV.
Understand Python basics variables, loops, conditionals, functions and lists
Build interactive games using pygame game loops, input, collisions and scoring
Create AI-driven chatbots and simple recommendation tools
Use OpenCV for webcam apps image display, face detection and overlays
Develop problem-solving, debugging and project presentation skills
No prior Python experience required.
