Class Experience
Teens learn real Python programming by building a stargazing app. Each week introduces new concepts, from variables and loops to functions and files.
They use real astronomy data and build an app that logs observations and analyses them, finishing with a showcase of their working app.
How classes work
Each week starts with a short live demo of the new idea, followed by guided practice while the teacher checks in with every learner. Classes end with a small challenge to try before next time.
What we'll cover
Week 1: Python Basics – Set up Python and write first programs.
Week 2: Variables – Store star and planet data in variables.
Week 3: Lists – Organize observations in lists.
Week 4: Loops – Use loops to process many observations at once.
Week 5: Functions – Write functions to reuse code.
Week 6: Files – Save and load observations from files.
Week 7: Data – Analyse real astronomy data sets.
Week 8: Log App – Build the core stargazing log app.
Week 9: Features – Add features like search and statistics.
Week 10: Showcase – Present the finished app and demo its features.
