Grade K-2 Science Summer Club: Hands-On Weekly Experiments

This weekly science club is an engaging, age-appropriate program for children ages 5–7 (Kindergarten through 2nd grade). Each session blends storytelling, real-world connections, guided hands-on exploration using common household materials, and interactive questioning to introduce core science ideas while keeping learning joyful and accessible. Classes emphasize early scientific habits such as observing, describing, sorting, predicting, and comparing. Lessons use simple experiments and activities to make abstract ideas concrete, and each class ends with a short review game, drawing activity, or challenge to reinforce learning. The curriculum aligns with NGSS Kindergarten–Grade 1 and UK Key Stage 1 expectations for pacing and content. The program runs with themed weeks across the year, including Living Things and Plants; Animals; Our Bodies and Senses; Weather; Earth and Sky; Forces and Movement; Light and Sound; Earth Science; Environment and Habitats; Dinosaurs and Fossils; STEM Builders; and Summer Science Fun. Weekly topics range from parts of a plant and habitats to magnets, volcanoes, shadows, recycling, simple engineering challenges, and backyard science investigations. Parents receive a weekly materials list posted every Sunday and printable worksheets and handouts to support activities. No special equipment is required beyond common household supplies, and activities are designed for adult-supported participation that builds curiosity and foundational scientific skills.
