ESL: Winter Olympics — Reading, Speaking & Writing Practice

Over eight classes, learners read aloud for pronunciation practice, watch short Olympic clips, discuss sports and athletes, and complete short reading and writing activities. Writing assignments are evaluated with a rubric; outside preparation is optional and not required for in-class participation.

This class is designed for intermediate to advanced English language learners. Students should be confident with basic English grammar and vocabulary. Students should also be comfortable speaking in a small group about the topic.

Materials needed:

All assignment materials will be teacher-provided.

Students may wish to use a television or computer outside of class to view Olympic events.
