Class Experience
Great animal adventure stories mix real science with exciting plots. In this course learners pick a wild animal, research how it hunts, hides and survives, and use those facts to power an original adventure story.
Each week focuses on one writing skill: building a believable setting, creating tension, writing action and dialogue, and revising for a strong ending. By week six every learner has a polished short story they can be proud of, with real animal facts woven into every page.
How classes work
Each week starts with a short live demo of the new idea, followed by guided practice while the teacher checks in with every learner. Classes end with a small challenge to try before next time.
What we'll cover
Week 1: Choose Your Animal and Research It – Pick a wild animal, collect five survival facts and note what dangers it faces.
Week 2: Build the Setting – Describe the habitat using the senses so readers feel they are there.
Week 3: Create the Problem – Plan a story problem based on a real survival challenge such as drought or a predator.
Week 4: Write the Action – Draft the exciting middle of the story using strong verbs and short sentences for speed.
Week 5: Dialogue and Feelings – Add dialogue and show how characters feel without saying it directly.
Week 6: Revise and Share – Revise the ending, check facts and spelling, and share the final story with the class.
