This 12-class Grade 4 math course develops strong number sense and fluency with multi-digit operations. We begin with place value to 1,000,000, teaching how to read, write, compare, order, and round large whole numbers. From there, learners strengthen addition and subtraction with larger numbers, using place-value strategies, regrouping, and the standard algorithms to solve single- and multi-step real-world problems. The course then introduces multiplication strategies and properties, emphasizing place-value reasoning and efficient methods. Students practice multiplying by multiples of 10, 100, and 1,000, then work on multi-digit multiplication by one-digit and two-digit numbers using area models, partial products, and standard procedures. Throughout, instruction uses visual models, guided examples, independent practice, and word problems to develop both procedural skill and conceptual understanding. Classes are teacher-led and interactive: students explain their thinking, compare strategies, and solve problems step by step. The final class is a comprehensive review and practice session that reinforces place value, rounding, estimation, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and multi-step problem solving. This course prepares learners to apply operations accurately and explain the reasoning behind their methods.
