This Grade 4 ELA curriculum strengthens grammar and writing skills so students write with clarity and confidence. Lessons combine hands-on grammar practice, vocabulary building, and regular writing tasks so learners immediately apply new skills in context. Instruction uses interactive games, collaborative activities, editing challenges, and end-of-unit writing workshops where students draft, revise, and polish pieces with personalized feedback. Course focus includes sentence structure and variety, parts of speech, verb tenses and agreement, punctuation and capitalization, word choice, figurative language, and formal versus informal language. Students practice writing narratives, descriptive paragraphs, opinion pieces, informative texts, and longer multi-paragraph essays. Research skills include basic note-taking, organizing evidence, and using direct quotes appropriately. Format and pacing emphasize steady skill development: two 35 to 40 minute live classes each week in a small-group setting, totaling 44 live sessions. The curriculum prioritizes editing and revision so learners learn to evaluate and improve their own writing. This course is designed to build readiness for Grade 5 and middle school writing expectations. Note: the curriculum targets grammar and writing skills and does not focus on reading comprehension. If you need a reading-centered course or tailored lessons, contact the program team for guidance.
