Character Design Club (Ages 11-14): Draw Heroes, Villains and Worlds

This weekly Character Design Club helps learners ages 11-14 develop original characters from concept to finished design. Each session includes a quick warm-up or prompt, a step-by-step demonstration, guided drawing time, and space for sharing work and optional feedback. Students explore silhouette, proportion, facial features, poses, costume design, powers and personality, then place characters in simple backgrounds to tell a story. The club is project-focused: students follow weekly prompts and short challenges that build a portfolio over time. Topics include creating heroes and villains, designing outfits and accessories, drawing expressive faces and poses, inventing sidekicks or creatures, and composing backgrounds that support a character’s world. The final session is a showcase where students present a completed original character (OC) and reflect on design choices. All skill levels are welcome. Lessons emphasize practical drawing techniques and creative decision-making rather than a single art style, and encourage respectful peer feedback in a supportive environment. Both traditional supplies and optional digital tools are accepted so students can work in the medium they prefer.
