1-on-1 Advanced Digital Illustration Portfolio

This course is for teens who already draw digitally and want professional-level results. The teacher reviews their current work, then guides them through a full illustration pipeline from thumbnail to final render.

Sessions cover composition, color and lighting, rendering, and presenting work in a portfolio. Each learner finishes with at least two polished illustrations and clear next steps for growing as an artist.

How classes work

Every session is private and paced to the learner. The teacher starts by checking where the learner is, adjusts the plan to their goals and gives detailed feedback in every class.

What we'll cover

• Session 1: Portfolio Review – Look through current digital work together and set clear goals for two portfolio pieces.

• Session 2: Thumbnails and Composition – Explore several compositions quickly with small thumbnails and pick the strongest.

• Session 3: Value and Lighting – Block in grayscale values and decide on light sources before adding color.

• Session 4: Color Theory – Choose a palette with intent using harmony, temperature and contrast.

• Session 5: Rendering Techniques – Render forms using brushes, layers, clipping masks and blend modes.

• Session 6: Illustration 1 Final – Polish edges, details and effects to finish the first portfolio piece.

• Session 7: Illustration 2 – Start a second illustration with a new subject or style challenge.

• Session 8: Portfolio Presentation – Finish the second piece and arrange both into a clean online or PDF portfolio.

Learners should already be comfortable with a digital drawing app. Device with screen sharing.
