Procreate Animation: 12 Principles Summer Camp (Ages 6-11)

This beginner-friendly summer camp introduces young creatives to the 12 Principles of Animation using the Procreate app on iPad. Each weekly session focuses on one principle and includes step-by-step demonstrations, guided practice, and time for students to personalize their own projects. Learners will gain hands-on experience navigating Procreate’s animation tools, setting up a workspace, drawing simple forms, and building frame-by-frame motion. Projects are playful and age-appropriate: animate bouncing balls, a frog or rocket preparing to leap, a car zooming and slowing, a dog with flapping ears, and short expressive character loops. Lessons mix teacher-led walkthroughs with independent drawing time so students can try techniques at their own pace and turn ideas into shareable animations. The course ends with a final session where each student designs and animates a short looping scene to refine and export as a GIF. The camp is designed for beginners with little or no Procreate or animation experience, though intermediate learners are welcome to join and deepen their skills. Classes emphasize clear instruction, creative experimentation, and constructive feedback in a supportive group setting. By the end of the camp, students will understand basic animation principles, feel more confident using Procreate’s animation features, and have original animated loops to share with family and friends.
