Class Experience
This semester course helps writers strengthen narrative craft across genres—short stories, memoir, poetry, drama, fairy tales, and mysteries—by reading as writers, practicing in-class writing, developing character and theme, and applying revising and self-editing strategies. Students work on drafting, receiving and incorporating feedback, and sharing work aloud to build clarity and confidence.

Produce clear, coherent narrative writing appropriate to task and audience
Use drafting and revision strategies including self-editing and peer feedback
Develop character, motif, theme, and sensory description across genres
Apply narrative structures and pacing to craft short and long-form stories
Prerequisites
Materials needed:
Weekly worksheets, assignments, or writing tools are uploaded and provided, and we will discuss the students' work during each session. Students can use a desktop, laptop, tablet, or good old-fashioned pencil/pen and paper.
