Class Experience

This two-day course focuses on sentence construction, syntax, punctuation, and stylistic choices. Students study sentences from published authors as models, learn to identify sentence “chunks,” and practice using phrases to add variety and clarity to their writing.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify sentence "chunks" to understand sentence structure

  • Use participial and other phrases to vary sentence style

  • Apply sentence-level techniques to improve clarity and purpose

  • Analyze sentence form and function in published writing
