Grade 4 Math: Multiplication, Fractions, Measurement and Geometry

This semester course gives 4th graders a complete, standards-aligned foundation in core math topics through live, engaging lessons and hands-on practice. Students build fluency with multi-digit addition, subtraction, multiplication and division while learning to apply all four operations to multi-step word problems. Fraction and decimal work emphasizes visual models, equivalent forms, comparing, adding and subtracting, and converting between fractions and decimals. Measurement units, conversions (customary and metric), and problems involving area and perimeter are taught with number-line and equation strategies. Geometry units introduce lines, angles, classification of 2D shapes and triangles, measuring angles with a protractor, and symmetry. Students also explore patterns, factors, multiples, divisibility rules, and the difference between prime and composite numbers. Data skills include collecting, organizing and interpreting information with line plots and bar graphs. Lessons use visual models, real-life examples, and step-by-step strategies so students understand concepts and explain their reasoning. Instruction balances skill practice, strategic problem solving, and application tasks that connect math to everyday situations. The course finishes with a comprehensive review to reinforce fluency and connect topics across units. This course is designed for children in Grade 4 and builds on prior elementary skills to prepare students for higher-level fraction work, measurement applications, and geometric reasoning.
