Class Experience
Students learn engineering thinking, the questions engineers ask, and how six simple machines (pulley, screw, wheel and axle, inclined plane, lever, wedge) are used in designs. Each week includes a focused lesson and a hands-on challenge—building bridges, elevators, paper airplanes, sailboats and a windmill—to apply those concepts practically.
Learning Outcomes
Identify the six simple machines and their functions.
Explain the engineering design process and the questions engineers ask when designing.
