This one-on-one chess skill assessment helps parents and students understand current strengths and learning needs in a single private session. The coach begins with a short, friendly quiz covering piece movement, basic tactics, and simple endgame ideas to establish a baseline. Students then solve a set of puzzles and practical positions to show how they handle threats, tactics, and basic planning. Throughout the session, the internationally-ranked coach observes move choices, explains ideas in kid-friendly language, and guides the student through tricky positions to demonstrate problem-solving approaches. By the end of the session you will receive clear, honest feedback about the student’s level—beginner or ready for intermediate study—plus specific areas to focus on next (for example tactics, openings, or endgames). The coach will also recommend the best next-step classes or practice routines to support steady improvement. No prior preparation is needed; just bring curiosity and a willingness to learn. This assessment is designed for children ages 6 to 15 and is a practical way to choose the right ongoing chess class or coaching plan.
