Charlotte's Web Reading and Writing for Grades 4-6

Explore E.B. White's Charlotte's Web through a reading and writing course for Grades 4 to 6. Students read the book chapter by chapter and practice vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, and creative writing tied directly to the story. Each session uses text-based discussion to build critical reading skills and vocabulary in context, then moves to targeted grammar lessons and short writing tasks that help students craft clearer, more descriptive sentences. The course emphasizes literary themes of friendship, kindness, courage, and change while giving students concrete language tools. Learners strengthen comprehension by identifying important events and themes, expand vocabulary by using new words in speaking and writing, and develop narrative and descriptive writing skills through prompts inspired by the barnyard setting. Grammar practice follows the story and covers adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, punctuation, and verb tenses. Pacing is flexible to match each learner. The curriculum is divided into 20 planned meetings but can be adjusted for slower or faster readers. Writing activities build gradually, and students have opportunities to revise and share work. The class balances shared reading, guided practice, and independent creative tasks so learners who are either confident readers or still developing skills find meaningful growth and enjoyment in the text.
