Class Experience

This course covers North American Indigenous cultures, European exploration and colonization, colonial life and regional differences, and the events leading to and through the American Revolution. Instruction emphasizes analysis over memorization, using visuals, discussions, video clips, games, virtual field trips, and optional activities; a student guide is provided for each topic.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify major Indigenous cultures and early European settlements in North America.

  • Differentiate economic, social, and cultural features of the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies.

  • Explain causes and key events that led to the American Revolution.

  • Analyze historical events through discussion and guided inquiry.
