This eight-week music course uses rhythm, movement, and simple instruments to support attention, motor coordination, memory, creativity, and social skills for children ages 7–12 (grades 3–6). Each week focuses on playful, accessible activities: listening and body percussion to explore sound, turning household items into percussion instruments, movement-based rhythm games to practice timing and gross motor skills, and tempo activities to sharpen listening and self-regulation. Lessons include call-and-response clapping and stomping, drumming with pots and spoons, marching and dance games that link rhythm to motion, and crafting a simple instrument from everyday materials to explore pitch and texture. Pattern and memory games help learners repeat and create rhythmic sequences, building sequencing and recall through music play. Collaborative jam sessions practice turn-taking, listening, and contributing to a group sound. The course concludes with a mini showcase where participants lead a short musical moment to celebrate progress. Sessions are designed to be sensory-friendly and adaptable for children with ADHD and autism. Activities are low-pressure, multi-sensory, and aimed at fostering confidence through success with clear, repeatable steps. Families receive a simple materials list and guidance for each week's activity. No prior music training is required — the emphasis is on participation, fun, and steady practice of rhythm skills that also support focus and social interaction.
