Class Experience

This workshop introduces basic electricity and electronics through hands-on circuit-building activities. Students construct breadboard circuits with LEDs, add switches and sensors, build paper and fabric tape circuits, and create themed projects like a lighted tree and a light-up paper star. Lessons cover open vs. closed circuits, series and parallel wiring, and troubleshooting.

Learning Outcomes

  • Construct simple circuits on a breadboard using LEDs

  • Explain open versus closed circuits and series versus parallel layouts

  • Use switches and sensors to control circuits

  • Build paper- and tape-based circuits to light paper projects

  • Convert a beeswax tealight into a battery-powered light
