Class Experience

This camp explores stories of young people who influenced major social movements, focusing on student activism, sit-ins, marches and community organizing. Learners analyze primary sources, photographs and brief video clips where appropriate, and discuss how youth actions shaped legal and social change and how these figures are remembered.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify young people who played important roles in major historical movements

  • Explain how student activism contributed to the Civil Rights Movement and other movements

  • Analyze historical photographs, short texts and primary sources to interpret youth-led activism

  • Compare forms of civic action such as sit-ins, marches and organizing
