Geology Exploration: Rocks, Minerals, Crystals & Fossils

A hands-on geology class that centers on observing and discussing rocks, minerals, crystals, and fossils. Sessions include show-and-tell of student specimens, instructor demonstrations from a personal collection, and exploration of topics like mineral fluorescence, the Mohs hardness scale, crystal habit, and the relationship between chemistry and geology.

Materials needed:

Bring along your specimen of rock, gem, crystal, or anything geology-related you'd like to share with the class. Students are not required to share a specimen as they may want to just explore and begin learning about this field.
