Paleontology Camp: Dig, Cast and Identify

This camp gives kids a taste of real paleontology. Each day they learn a new skill, from careful excavation and casting to identifying fossils from teeth and bones and reconstructing what a dinosaur looked like.

Kids work in small teams to solve fossil puzzles, compare ideas like real scientists and present their findings on the final day.

How classes work

Camp meets on back-to-back days. Each day builds on the last, mixing short demos, hands-on work and time to share progress, so learners finish the week with a complete project.

What we'll cover

• Day 1: Excavation – Learn excavation techniques and dig for fossils.

• Day 2: Casting – Make fossil casts with salt dough.

• Day 3: Identification – Identify fossils using teeth, bones and clues.

• Day 4: Team Presentation – Present team findings and reconstructions.

No experience needed. Learners need a device with a camera and microphone for live classes.
