Class Experience

This full-year class focuses on practical math used in daily life: operations with decimals, fractions and percentages, discounts, taxes, paychecks, unit conversions, measurement for housing, basic business formulas, interest calculations and interpreting financial tables and charts. Lessons use real-world scenarios, interactive activities and problem-solving practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • Apply arithmetic with decimals, fractions and percentages to budgeting, shopping and pricing problems.

  • Calculate wages, hours and payroll-related pay scenarios.

  • Compute simple interest and work with basic interest tables.

  • Analyze charts, unit conversions and compare costs for housing, shipping and purchases.

Pencil and Paper, Calculator (basic)
