Pet Budget Math: Plan the Cost of Caring for a Pet

Many kids dream of getting a pet, but few know what it really costs. In this four-week course learners choose a pet and calculate everything it needs: food, toys, bedding, vet visits and more.

They compare prices, add up weekly and yearly costs, and use percentages to plan savings. The final project is a complete pet care plan with a budget, a care schedule and a pitch to convince their family.

How classes work

Each week starts with a short live demo of the new idea, followed by guided practice while the teacher checks in with every learner. Classes end with a small challenge to try before next time.

What we'll cover

• Week 1: Choose Your Pet – Pick a pet and list everything it needs to stay healthy and happy.

• Week 2: Shopping and Prices – Compare product prices and calculate start-up costs.

• Week 3: Weekly to Yearly Costs – Work out food and care costs over a week, month and year.

• Week 4: My Pet Care Plan – Finish the budget and schedule, then pitch the plan to the class.

No experience needed. Learners need a device with a camera and microphone for live classes.
