Roblox Smart Spending: Needs, Wants and Robux Choices

Many kids make their first spending decisions in games. This four-week course for ages 7 to 11 uses Roblox to teach smart spending habits that carry over into real life.

In week one learners explore needs and wants, sorting everyday items and in-game items into each group. They talk about how it feels to buy something and later wish they had saved. Week two focuses on planning. Learners set a pretend Robux budget, make a wish list, rank items by importance and decide what to buy now and what to save for. In week three learners learn to spot spending traps in games, such as limited-time offers, mystery boxes and buttons that make spending feel rushed. They practice the stop and think rule before any purchase. The final week connects game spending to real money, including how Robux are bought with real dollars, and learners create a personal spending plan to share with their family.

The teacher uses friendly examples, role-play and short games to make each idea clear. No real purchases are made in class, and the focus is on thoughtful choices, not on buying.

By the end learners will understand needs and wants, plan purchases and make calmer spending decisions online and offline. A parent may want to review the final spending plan together.

Each class uses discussion, sorting games and role-play around one money idea. Learners create a family spending plan in the final class.
