This middle school chemistry course guides learners through core concepts—from the nature of matter to chemical reactions and everyday applications. Over 16 lessons, students explore properties and states of matter, measurement, and the conservation of mass. They then study atomic structure, ions and isotopes, and the historical development of atomic models to build a foundation for chemical reasoning. The course examines the periodic table and element families to reveal patterns that predict behavior, then moves into how atoms combine to form compounds. Students learn chemical formulas, differences between ionic and covalent bonding, and additional interactions such as polarity, hydrogen bonding, and metallic bonding that explain material properties. Learners will practice representing and balancing chemical equations, identify common reaction types, and investigate how energy, temperature and catalysts affect reaction rates. The syllabus connects chemistry to life by introducing carbon chemistry and basic biochemistry, and concludes with solutions, solubility, acids and bases, and an introduction to nuclear concepts and radioactivity. Each lesson uses clear explanations, guided discussion, and interactive examples. Optional simple demonstrations or household experiments help students see concepts in action without requiring specialized equipment. The course is designed for Grades 6 through 8 (ages 11–14) and does not require prior chemistry study.

Paid once.
Sixteen structured lessons progress from matter and measurements to atoms, the periodic table, bonding, reactions, and applied chemistry. Each session combines concise explanations, guided discussion, worked examples, and optional simple demonstrations or at-home activities to reinforce concepts.
Describe the structure of matter atoms, elements, compounds and states
Explain patterns in the periodic table and how valence electrons affect reactivity
Understand types of chemical bonds and how bonding influences material properties
Represent and balance simple chemical equations and identify reaction types
Relate chemistry concepts to real-world systems, including basic biochemistry and acids/bases
