Class Experience

This course continues foundational violin study for students who already know basic setup, posture, bow hold and simple songs. Content includes D major scale practice (plucked and bowed), open-string bowing, low second and fourth-finger patterns, bow articulations (staccato, hooked bows, slurs), reading 6/8 rhythms, and learning beginner repertoire such as Ode to Joy, Minuet No. 1 and French Folk Song.

Learning Outcomes

  • Improve posture, bow hold and overall bow control

  • Read and perform the D major scale and bow open strings with accurate pitch

  • Apply low second- and fourth-finger patterns to beginner repertoire

  • Demonstrate bow articulations (staccato, hooked bows, slurs) and read 6/8 rhythms

  • Prepare and perform beginner pieces such as Ode to Joy, Minuet No. 1 and Row Row Row Your Boat
