Class Experience

This small-group, 10-week clarinet course introduces foundational skills: embouchure and tone production, instrument assembly and care, hand position and fingering, initial notes (E, D, C) and an expanding range, plus basic music reading and rhythm counting. Weekly 30-minute lessons focus on step-by-step skill building and music theory to prepare students for continued private study or band participation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop a consistent embouchure and clear clarinet tone with correct articulation

  • Assemble, hold and care for the clarinet properly

  • Read fingering charts and play first notes (E, D, C) while expanding range

  • Read notes on the treble clef and count rhythms in simple meters

  • Identify major key signatures and common time signatures
