Class Experience

This 5-week beginner course introduces treble-staff notation, basic rhythmic values and rests, scale construction, and time signatures (4/4 and 3/4). Each short class mixes instruction, guided practice, games, and group activities so students can read, count, and perform simple pieces by the final session.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify notes A–G on the treble staff and connect them to pitch

  • Read, clap, and count rhythms using whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes and rests

  • Understand and build the C major scale and recognize stepwise motion

  • Explain and apply 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures by counting and performing measures

Prerequisites

No prior music theory experience is required—this class is designed for complete beginners. Learners should be comfortable participating in a small-group online setting and willing to engage in short activities, games, and discussions. The
