Arithmetic and Number Sense for Ages 6 to 8

This 8-class course introduces early elementary learners to core arithmetic and number sense using interactive, hands-on methods. Through stories, games, drawing tasks, visual models, and manipulatives, students build confidence with counting, number relationships, basic addition and subtraction, place value, and patterns. Each class focuses on a specific idea and includes a short lesson, guided practice with counters or drawings, and playful activities that reinforce concepts. Learners practice counting sequences (including counting by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s), comparing and ordering numbers using symbols and number lines, and solving simple word problems with pictures and math talk. Place value is explored with tens-and-ones models to show how numbers are composed. Even and odd patterns are highlighted through sorting and games. The course finishes with a review and game day that ties all topics together.
