This beginner-friendly abacus course introduces children to math using hands-on, visual learning with a physical abacus. Over eight live classes, students learn how the abacus represents numbers, practice counting forward and backward, and develop a clear understanding of place value (ones and tens). Instruction focuses on moving beads to build numbers, perform addition up to 1,000 with step-by-step strategies, and introduce subtraction and regrouping for problems within 100. Each class combines guided demonstration, interactive practice, and confidence-building challenges. Learners explain their thinking, connect abacus techniques to everyday school problems, and receive structured review to reinforce skills. The course is designed for young learners with no prior abacus experience and emphasizes clear procedures, efficient bead movement, and gradual progress from simple counting to multi-digit addition and borrowing in subtraction. By the end of the course, students will be comfortable reading and building numbers on the abacus, solving basic addition and subtraction problems using bead methods, and applying these visual strategies to classroom math.
