Class Experience
This five-class course introduces the Procreate Dreams animation app and guides learners through the interface, layers, brushes and color tools, then applies those tools to basic 2D animation. Students explore timing, easing, squash-and-stretch and frame-by-frame sketching while trying techniques and receiving instructor feedback.
Learning Outcomes
Navigate the Procreate Dreams interface and project settings.
Use layers, brushes and color tools effectively in a project.
Apply basic animation principles such as timing, easing and squash-and-stretch.
Create a simple frame-by-frame 2D animation using app tools.
Prerequisites
Drawing abilities will greatly help. Capacity for thinking in 3D from a 2D grid and basic knowledge of perspective.
Materials needed:
An iPad with Pencil. The Procreate app.
I sometimes reference the classic animator handbook "Cartoon Animation with Preston Blair" or others but these are not obligatory to take the class.
