Ojos de Dios Weaving and Mexican Folk Art

Over two sessions, students learn the traditional weaving technique for Ojos de Dios, the materials traditionally used and accessible alternatives, and cultural and historical interpretations of colors and patterns. The focus is on artistic expression, craftsmanship, and cultural understanding rather than religious practice.

Materials

• 2 small sticks (wooden skewers, wooden chopsticks, craft sticks, or twigs)

• Yarn or thread in any colors (two or more colors will make your design more fun!)

• Scissors

• Glue (optional, for securing ends)

• 3 x3 inches cardboard paper

• cutter

All materials are commonly found at home. No special or expensive supplies are required.
