Class Experience

A six-week, math-focused photography class that teaches manual camera control—aperture, shutter speed and ISO—to shape exposure, depth of field and motion. Students complete hands-on challenges, create visual reference materials, practice measuring techniques and upload weekly homework images to the Outschool classroom to track progress and organization.

Learning Outcomes

  • Apply manual camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) to achieve photographic effects

  • Use fractions, ratios and basic algebraic thinking to inform camera choices

  • Organize notes and image files and create visual reference materials for practice
