Class Experience

This middle school course emphasizes lighting as a tool for clear scientific images and compelling portraits. Learners plan and conduct a short science experiment, photograph and document change over time, organize image files weekly, analyze results, and assemble a photo essay for presentation. Instructor provides a materials list before week 2.

Materials needed:

Camera - DSLR, Mirrorless, or point & shoot with manual settings for ISO, aperture, and shutter speed

Materials for science experiment to begin in week 2:

-Seeds - Radishes, garden cress, green beans, lima beans, or wheatgrass

-Soil & containers for planting

1 of these depending on project chosen:

-Measuring tape or yardstick/meterstick

-Timer or alarm

-Colored LED light bulbs or cellophane
