Class Experience
This course focuses on developing mathematical thinking via puzzles and structured problems. Students work on Sudoku, pentominoes, number challenges, Continental Math League-style questions, and a mystery project that applies learned strategies in collaborative, game-like activities.
Learning Outcomes
Improve general math problem-solving skills
Solve logic puzzles such as Sudoku and pentominoes
Approach competition-style problems (Continental Math League examples)
Prerequisites
Students should know their basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts.
Materials needed:
Students will need to print off a small packet at the beginning of the camp. There will be one page that will need to be cut into pentominoes.
Pencil, paper, and packet on camp days!
