Percy Jackson — The Lightning Thief: Greek Mythology Through the Book

This eight-week class uses The Lightning Thief to introduce Greek mythology, Olympian gods, heroes, monsters, and the hero's journey. Classes combine chapter discussion, myth background, character study, creative activities (monster or character design), mapping of the journey, and a final project that demonstrates students' understanding. Students must obtain a copy of the book and read Chapter 1 before the first class.

Learners must be able to read at least on a third to fourth grade level.

Materials needed:

A copy of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. It can be through kindle or a physical copy of the book.
