Class Experience
This semester course teaches beginner piano reading on the treble and bass staff and basic rhythm notation through simplified Taylor Swift arrangements. Lessons cover middle C position, note names, time signatures (including 4/4 and 6/4), counting, rhythm values, and introductory hand position changes; sheet music arrangements are teacher-made and managed separately for copyright reasons.
Learning Outcomes
Read staff notation on treble and bass staves and associate note names with keyboard positions.
Clap and perform standard rhythm notation including quarter, half, dotted half, whole, and eighth notes.
Play simplified Taylor Swift song arrangements and perform pieces covered in class.
Prerequisites
I recommend students attend Taylor Swift Crash Course 1A and 1B or the Taylor Swift Intro to Piano - Full Semester 1 before attending this class.
Students should already be able to sightread songs using the alpha names of the white keys.
