Class Experience
This Level 1 small-group class introduces posture, hand position, finger numbers, white key names, pitch recognition, basic note values and time signatures, treble and bass clef reading up to the grand staff, legato technique, dynamics, and simple intervals. Lessons include demonstrations, short videos, assignments, and practice to prepare students for staff reading by the end of Unit 2.
Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate correct posture, hand position, and use of piano finger numbers
Identify white key names and understand the music alphabet
Read basic note values and interpret time signatures
Read music on treble, bass, and grand staffs
Apply legato technique and basic dynamics when playing
