Ancient Greek Mythology: Gods, Heroes and Monsters

This course invites learners to explore Ancient Greek mythology through storytelling, discussions, games, artifact examination, maps and hands-on projects. Topics include the Olympian gods, heroes like Perseus and Odysseus, monsters such as Medusa and the Minotaur, Mount Olympus, the Underworld and myth themes and symbols. Activities use maps and Google Earth, museum images, creative challenges and group sharing to connect myths with historical art and geography.

Materials needed:

Learners will need:

• Paper (printer paper, construction paper, or a sketchbook)

• Pencil and eraser

• Colored pencils, crayons, or markers

• Scissors

• Glue or glue stick

• Tape

• Index cards or cardstock (optional, but helpful)

• A ruler

• A small notebook or journal for Myth Detective notes (or printed journal pages provided by the instructor)

• Basic household craft materials such as cardboard, paper plates, yarn, aluminum foil, and a small box may be needed for some optional projects. A complete supply list for all eight weeks will be provided before the course begins so families can gather materials in advance.
