  Glitter Mountain: Virtual Field Trip to a Selenite Mine

  This recorded virtual field trip was a great intro to mineralogy for my 12-year-old. The visual focus on selenite crystals and the gypsum mine made complex concepts easy to grasp without being overly technical. Pacing felt good for older kids in the 6–14 range, and doing just one lesson that week meant we could discuss what we saw afterward. Would recommend for curious kids who enjoy nature and science visuals.

  Good for beginners and nicely paced across five lessons. One downside: my child wanted more project choices.

  Science Writing with IEW: Wonders of Science Curriculum

  As the parent of a 12-year-old, I appreciate how this course pairs the IEW Structure & Style approach with science-themed source texts to keep writing relevant and engaging. The 50-minute, once-a-week lessons over 31 weeks feel well paced, and the mix of reading, discussion, key word outlining, vocabulary enrichment, and step-by-step composition practice helped my child produce clearer, more confident compositions while exploring topics like insects, inventions, space, and historical scientists.

  Excellent course — covers early peoples through modern civil rights clearly, and the teacher feedback plus short, focused 25-minute lessons kept my child engaged.

  Changing Habits: Positive Reinforcement Lab

  Engaging content and practical exercises on positive reinforcement. I wished there was an extra week for more practice, but the one lesson per week for two weeks fit our schedule.
